Fixed radar head systems are basically used for measuring velocity for short to medium range applications. Since the radar head remains in fixed angular position, the projectile trajectory must remain within the radar beam in order to get valid results.

The typical applications for fixed radar systems are:
A complete system solution contains the following items:
Such a system can be deployed and made operational in minutes. The radar head is typically installed on a tripod and positioned close to the gun system. It is connected to the junction box using a long signal cable (ex: 100 meters). The junction box is connected to the PC computer and it is used to digitize the Doppler signal generated by the radar. The TestCenter then processes that signal and extract the velocity information along with other results. A trigger device is required to synchronize the acquisition with the muzzle exit event.
