BR-520, 10.5GHz Fixed Radar Head

The BR-520 Doppler radar antenna utilizes the Doppler principle to measure the velocity of moving objects. It is particularly well suited for muzzle velocity measurements as well as short range velocity measurements. This radar unit is ideal for measuring on 5.56mm to 155mm projectiles, tracers, basebleeds, mortars and rockets.

The radar antenna consists of a transmitting and a receiving antenna (bi-static configuration) based on microstrip antenna technology. The receiver has a very low noise figure in order to provide maximum sensitivity and detection range. When used in conjunction with the Infinition’s junction box and the TestCenter Doppler processing software, it provides a powerful tool for ballistic analysis.

The unit is powered using 12Vdc, which is provided by the Doppler processor. A single cable for the power connection and the data signals (Doppler and trigger signals) is required to connect the radar to the processor. The trigger device (acoustic or optical) can directly be connected to the radar head for maximum convenience.

The BR-520 housing is made of machined aluminum and provides outstanding rigidity in a small dimension and low weight package. The entire unit is sealed to prevent dust and water from getting inside the housing and damaging the electronics. The radar unit can operate under a wide range of temperature and weather conditions as well as shocks and vibrations.

The radar head can easily be mounted on a standard photo tripod using a ¼”-20 screw.
